"The dose which has been used is based upon body weight, and for an average adult male this equates to a holding dose of 150 mg/day usually taken at bedtime.  The dose would be reached gradually by giving 25 mg/day incrementally at 4-day intervals (ie, 25 mg for 4 days, then 50 mg for 4 days, then 75 mg for 4 days, etc.).  It does not matter if the target dose is not reached in the 4 days, as some patients experience side effects which take time to attenuate.  You should expect initial tiredness and dryness of the mouth (especially in the mornings), while some patients experience muscular "jerks" while sleeping.  Other side effects are very infrequent, but your GP needs to assess whether there is a likelihood of seizures due to the tumour, as clomipramine lowers the threshold for seizures (so the anti-convulsant medication levels may have to be raised a little accordingly)."
